Agenda
The meeting was hosted by Merchants Metals on River Road in Tonawanda. Mike Gould and his crew took care of refreshments
and food.
The Speaker was Bob Davidzik from NYDOT.
Some employees bought their company trucks for mock inspections and just about all of them had some kind
of violation.
Nobody was issued a ticket, but some were suprised as to their violation.
A few highlights from the meeting.
Anything you tow 12ft from the steering wheel must have lights. Wood Chipper, Compressor, welder, cement mixer.etc
Gravel/stone. Must be tarped completely or should be in a containment box.
Hazardous materials. All trucks carry some. Do not need special permits if carrying less than 440 lb....total. Examples
of Haz Mat. Spray paint, WD40, gas, oil, propane. If you are stopped and asked if you are carrying Haz
Mat. You should say yes. If you don't and any of the above are found its a $325.00 fine.
Everything must be contained and not able to move around in the truck.
Gas cans have to be tied down, and not able to move around.
All trucks must have 2 safety triangles and a fire extingusher.
Safety straps. Defective if 1/4" of strap is defective. This is cumalative over the total length of the strap.
Please print these notes and issue a copy to all employees, or you may have to pay the price.
For additional information and a DOT manual please contact
Bob Davidzik at 716 847 3885 or email RDAVIDZIK@DOT.STATE.NY.US
